Constitution Amended

Monday, 4th July, 2011 – 18:17 by Pete Smith

On the 3 May 2001, members voted at a special general meeting in relation to four amendments to the WAMUG constitution. The amendments (or special resolutions) were in relation to clauses:-

4.4 – Subscriptions (a change to the calendar year);
4.11 – Corporate Members (now allowed to serve on the committee subject to clause 6.1);
6.1 – Constitution of the Committee (corporate members must total less than 50% of number of committee members); and
6.2 – Election of Officers and Members of the Committee (election of vice president and secretary).

Following the meeting, the amended constitution was forwarded to the Department of Commerce for acceptance. The amendments “have been accepted as lodged with effect from 2 June 2011.”

The ‘Constitution’ page has been updated and an up-to-date PDF copy of the constitution can be downloaded from the link at the top right of the ‘Constitution’ page.

As promised, over the next few weeks, I will email all members and advise them of their current financial status re renewals. If you don’t hear from me by, say mid-August, then you’re not on the list of financial members.

Also, the Department of Commerce took the opportunity to review our revised rules (constitution) and found some small inconsistencies with the Act. They have recommended that the committee takes steps to amend these inconsistencies. (They are not major, e.g, just a missing or added word here or there.) Consequently, we’ll be calling another special general meeting in the near future. As before, it will coincide with a monthly meeting and I’m sure there will be proxy voting again.

I’ll keep you informed.

Finally – there has been another change somewhere in the web site – can you spot it? Have fun. It’s not hard to find. Leave a comment about what you think of it.

Regards,

Pete S.
